A small island in midstream is destined to dissapear as the river carves it away.
Not only will the island be gone, but so will the bridge. Not many of these old iron bridges remain. This is the second or third bridge near this spot. Timbers of the old wooden covered bridge still linger on the bottom upstream of this bridge and can be seen when the water is low.
